Ahmed Habib, a top Egyptian architect, has unveiled the stunning design of Al Majlis, a traditional Saudi restaurant located in a mall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 1,570 square meters restaurant captures the essence of a typical sixties urban experience, immersing users in an authentic feeling.
The interior and layout of Al Majlis mimic the earlier urban fabric by using disorderly shifting modules to create dynamic alleyways, offering a fully immersive experience. The materials and accessories used are a collective combination of modern and cultural elements, representing the rich Saudi heritage.
The restaurant's internal structure includes steel, GRG Glass Reinforced Gypsum, GRC Glass Reinforced Concrete, and Cement Board, while the main finishes feature off-white, beige, and gray stucco, along with walnut wood and double-glazed glass. The restaurant boasts 13 closed rooms, 1 VIP room, and 25 semi-enclosed rooms, providing ample space for guests to dine in privacy.
Ahmed Habib's design team, including Mostafa Al Haj, Mohamed Sherif, and Oleksandr Bakhmatskyi, contributed to the realization of this remarkable project. The design process began in July 2020 and concluded in September 2020, resulting in a captivating space that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Saudi Arabia.
Ahmed Habib's innovative approach to integrating traditional Saudi urban elements into an indoor space has garnered international acclaim, earning him the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021. This recognition highlights the exceptional creativity and technical prowess demonstrated in the design of Al Majlis, setting a new standard for hospitality and cultural experiences.
