IKARUS: Capturing the Essence of Endangered Birds

Renowned photographer Florian W. Mueller presents IKARUS, a captivating photography artwork series that immortalizes endangered and extinct bird species. The series, named NEGLECT, is a poignant reflection on the consequences of human impact on the environment and the delicate balance of nature. Each piece is meticulously produced on ChromaLuxe material, available in sizes 120 x 90cm and 80 x 60cm, and strictly limited to 5/10 pieces.

Dr. Martin Päckert, the head of the ornithology section of the Senckenberg Naturhistorische Sammlungen Dresden, played a pivotal role in supporting Mueller's work, providing invaluable expertise and assistance in capturing these rare avian subjects.

IKARUS is a testament to Mueller's creative vision and technical prowess, as he masterfully sets the stage for each bird, reminiscent of a Rembrandt painting, with the background featuring macro-photography of the birds' feathers.

Florian W. Mueller's IKARUS project was a result of nearly a year of research and preparation, culminating in two days of intensive shooting and around 2 weeks of meticulous post-production. The project was brought to life at the ornithology institute of the Senckenberg Institutes in Dresden, Germany, where Mueller had the opportunity to photograph the rare and extinct bird species.

IKARUS serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of our natural world and the urgent need for conservation efforts.
