Jung-Chieh Cheng's Realm of Tranquility project is an 82.7 square meter modern Zen style residence located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The design draws inspiration from Japanese Zen style, incorporating warm wood grain and stucco tone as the base, creating a unique, quiet, and distant ambiance.
The project stands out for its use of environmentally friendly building materials such as plaster, woven rattan, solid wood strips, and leather carving board, creating a fusion of different materials to evoke a sense of tranquility and elegance.
The wooden floor is made of green energy building materials, offering wear resistance and zero formaldehyde, while the wall design eliminates the need for expansion joints, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the space.
The project overcame challenges related to building structure and fire protection regulations, incorporating arc-shaped designs in the ceiling assembly to create a sense of fluency and brightness. The use of environmentally friendly green building materials further reflects the project's commitment to environmental protection.
Cheng's dedication to interior design and his focus on breakthroughs and sustainability have earned him the Bronze A' Design Award, showcasing his outstanding creativity and technical skills in creating spaces that contribute to quality of life improvements.
