Xiangxin Huzhou Songyuanli: Redefining Modern Aristocratic Living

Zhijun Zhong's Xiangxin Huzhou Songyuanli draws inspiration from the lifestyle of the upper aristocracy in 1930s China, blending traditional Huizhou architecture with international modernity to create a unique aesthetic. The 696-square-meter mansion reflects the golden age of the Oriental Modern, featuring classical British expressions and local silk products from Huzhou, showcasing the prosperity of the industrial age while preserving traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

The design seamlessly integrates traditional Chinese dark engraving techniques, traditional handicraft embroidery techniques, and Jiangnan gardening techniques, embodying the essence of high-quality spirit and excellence of Chinese culture.

The project, a private residence and prototype house, balances the owner's preferences with the audience's design preferences, achieving both "relatively universal" and "exclusively pertinence" design elements. The design project overcame challenges by integrating traditional culture with contemporary lifestyles, fusing Chinese and Western design features to create a multifunctional space that challenges boundaries and standards.

In recognition of its outstanding expertise and innovation, Xiangxin Huzhou Songyuanli was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2023 for its remarkable level of excellence and positive impact on modern design.
