Design Unveiled: Embracing Oriental Aesthetics in "Awakening In Nature"

Maggie Yu's "Awakening In Nature" project stands out with its exquisite selection of building materials that bring to life the appearance of San-sui, a landscape in Mandarin. The integration of wood, fluoric acid glass, iron pieces, and marble throughout the 178 square meter space ensures the seamless incorporation of San-sui into the design.

The segmentation methods used in the project create different visual perceptions of the stones, reflecting the designated space functions. The installment of iron pieces enriches the visual extension, creating a balance between Western and Oriental elements.

The project faced challenges in materializing abstract scenes from ancient Chinese arts using modern design, particularly in the selection and usage of stone materials. However, the team successfully created a light and warm space while incorporating a large area of stone to present a coordinated and strong visual sense.

The design team, led by Maggie Yu and Huang Ming Wei, aimed to create a space that reflects the owner's affection for Mother Nature in an artistic interpretation, or Sansui, using natural materials and ambient lighting to enhance the natural atmosphere.
