FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gushan Fish Market Renovation Project

The Gushan Fish Market in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has undergone a remarkable transformation, becoming the Kaohsiung Agricultural and Fishery Products Exhibition and Sales Center. The design team, led by C.M CHAO ARCHITECT&PLANNERS, aimed to revive the former glory of the fish market by demolishing dangerous buildings and improving the surrounding environment. The result is a transparent box-like building with a 270-degree sea view, creating an exclusive new landmark in Kaohsiung through transparent architecture and blurred boundaries.

The project preserved the memory of the harbor by retaining the century-old entrance building while enhancing its exterior. The transparent box-like building offers a unique aesthetic, with different appearances during the day and night. The use of fused glass on the exterior walls creates a water-like bubble effect, adding to its distinctiveness.

The renovation project also focused on using heat-resistant, durable, and long-lasting green building materials, ensuring the preservation and recreation of the original structures. The site, spanning 7243.64 square meters, includes the Fishery Office, Gushan Fish Market, and the Plaza, attracting over 30,000 visitors on its opening day.
