Award-winning sports center in Dongguan City, China, redefines urban living with innovative design
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Dongguan Riverside project, designed by Peng Xiaohua, Chen Qi, and Deng Juan, is a groundbreaking sports center located in Dongguan City, Guangdong Province, China. The project aims to integrate residents' cultural activities, healthy sports, and a livable waterfront life, redefining the spirit of the site and activating the vitality of the city. The facade design adopts an international modern style, reflecting a sense of future, flow, and technology.
The project, covering an area of about 17,520 square meters, is a part of the industrial city integration urban renewal project. The design concept is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, aiming to turn the green sports center into a natural oxygen bar on the corner of the city, integrating fitness, sports, parking, and transportation hubs into one.
The project, which began in 2021 and is currently in the conceptual stage, presents a unique challenge of hiding buildings under greenery, requiring compatibility between buildings and greening. The location on the bank of the river adds to the complexity, demanding exceptional waterproof and moisture-proof performance during construction.
The project has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2023, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation. The design showcases a remarkable level of excellence, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
Peng Xiaohua, the presiding designer, is a graduate of Changsha University of Science and Technology and specializes in architectural design, cultural space design, exhibition space design, public building space design, commercial space design, hotel space design, and office space design. His team's philosophy revolves around unity, openness, equality, collaboration, and sharing to design each project.
