Oliver Schütte's No Footprint House (NFH) is a pioneering sustainable residential prototype located along the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The design draws inspiration from the work of Buckminster Fuller, Jean Prouve, and the contemporary automotive industry, integrating passive climate control, natural ventilation, and solar shading to harmonize with its tropical habitat.
The NFH is based on a prefabricated component design system, offering a range of typologies and sizes, with a focus on minimizing environmental footprint and maximizing well-being. The project is an ongoing endeavor, with plans to become carbon-neutral by 2021 and expand production for global export by 2022.
The NFH has been recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in Sustainable Products, Projects, and Green Design, celebrating its outstanding innovation and commitment to environmental sustainability.
