Yabi Kitchen: A Modern Dining Space in Taiwan

Hui-Chu Huang introduces Yabi Kitchen, a contemporary dining space in Taiwan, designed to reflect the core image of the brand and accommodate the client's expansion plans.

Yabi Kitchen is a fusion cuisine restaurant with a unique open kitchen, carefully planned seating areas, and a harmonious atmosphere. The interior space features an open-ended design, maintaining the original building's ceiling height and providing a picturesque view.

The project, completed in December 2018, showcases the use of artificial stone, iron mesh, white teak, modeling chandeliers, and architectural lighting to create a seamless and inviting environment. The color scheme, predominantly ginger, aligns with the brand's image and is complemented by wood materials, leather seats, and sofas.

The project's technical specifications include the preservation of the original ceiling height, the use of yellow-painted wire mesh to cover pipes and steel beams, and the strategic use of modeling chandeliers and suspended cabinets to achieve a sense of lightness. The designer also negotiated with the building management to lower the windows, meeting sound insulation and fire protection requirements.

Yabi Kitchen's design emphasizes smooth traffic flow, with the open kitchen strategically placed away from the entrance. The seating areas are arranged to eliminate dead corners, ensuring an optimal dining experience for the 91-seat restaurant. The space also features a staff lounge, storage, cashier, and service area, contributing to the overall flow and functionality.

Notably, Yabi Kitchen received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design. The project successfully integrates art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements.
