Exotic Mashups by Shin-Lan Chao

Renowned designer Shin-Lan Chao introduces Exotic Mashups, a residential design project that seamlessly blends colonial and exotic elements to create a rich and exquisite atmosphere. The design features a unique mix of vintage furniture and foreign collections, breathing new life into old items and infusing the space with a sense of history and eternity.

Through the use of delicate strip outlines and materials, the space exudes a colonial charm, while large-scale transparent French windows offer a profound impression of the spatial and aesthetic. The design includes a main bedroom, guest room, and a multi-functioned rest and reading area, all characterized by an introverted and rich atmosphere with warm, transparent daylight lighting.

The project, located in Taoyuan, Taiwan, was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
