Ali Sharifi Omid Introduces Ravaq, a Side Table Inspired by Moqarnas Ceilings
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ali Sharifi Omid introduces Ravaq, a side table inspired by the intricate moqarnas ceilings of Persian architecture. Ravaq aims to renew the grandeur of these ceilings covered with mirrors in a smaller scale, reflecting surrounding colors from different angles to match its environment more beautifully. The main challenge of Ravaq was to create new and innovative forms from a traditional pattern and motif, tying the ancient with the contemporary.
The production of Ravaq involved the use of CNC cutting for stainless steel and glass sheets to minimize human error. The main materials used in its production are stainless steel and colored glasses, resulting in a high-quality and perfect production. With a height of 464mm, a diameter of 586mm, and weighing 14kg, Ravaq is a unique piece that evokes a beautiful volume of architectural performance in its environment.
Ali Sharifi Omid, an Iranian designer, draws inspiration from the geographical forms of his place of residence to create furniture with a postmodern spirit. Influenced by Iranian architectural elements, Omid's designs have garnered recognition, including the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for their well-designed, practical, and innovative nature.
