Horace Suite: A Modern Transformation

Make It Works presents Horace Suite, a remarkable transformation of a 70s Hong Kong home into a modern Western style living space. The project aimed to create a flexible living area with ample natural light, showcasing innovative small home solutions with transformable zones for multiple functions while retaining spatial comforts. The complete shuffle of zoning compared to common Hong Kong homes, along with the minimal design and concealed storage, resulted in larger room sizes and more functions than the original 470 sq.ft. flat typically allowed.

The flat features a living room with a working space and an extra bedroom embedded, an open kitchen with a dining bench, a bathroom with laundry, and a queen-sized bedroom with full wall wardrobe and open shelves. The open kitchen is equipped with built-in appliances, providing a functional space for group cooking and gatherings. The design is tailored for a single noble who loves friend gatherings at her place, with the suite able to shift between three modes, offering a versatile living experience.

The project, located in Happy Valley, Hong Kong, took three months from demolishment to full renovation, from November 2021 to January 2022. Make It Works conducted extensive research and overcame various creative and technical challenges to achieve the perfect balance between functionality and spacious feel in a limited space. The Horace Suite is a testament to the transformative power of well-designed spaces, reflecting Make It Works' commitment to creating beautiful and functional environments tailored to clients' unique needs.
