Polina Nozdracheva, the Chief Architect of ALPN Ltd., has designed a remarkable equestrian arena, Equi Temple, blending sport, technology, and sustainability in Klin region, Russia.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Equi Temple, a stunning equestrian arena, draws inspiration from the natural environment, featuring a rhythmic series of vertical structural elements and stained glass windows that unite interior and exterior spaces. The use of wood for all structural elements and facades, combined with traditional architectural elements, creates a unique and environmentally friendly design.
The arena's main building material is wood, with a maximum height of 12.5 meters and a total area of 2150 square meters. The construction volume is 21660 cubic meters, and it features two floors with a balcony, measuring 72x28 meters, with the riding arena itself spanning 65x25 meters.
The arena is designed for year-round use, accommodating equestrian sports for professionals and hobbyists, with separate evacuation exits for horses, sportsmen, and guests. The project, which started in October 2017, was completed in January 2021 in Moscow, Russia.
Uniqueness of the Equi Temple is attributed to its organic connection of several functions: sport, technological, recreational, and representative. The glazed facades integrate internal and external spaces, while the massive roof hovers above the ground, creating a memorable and spectacular image.
The arena's expressive architectural and spatial image operates within technological limitations, using rhythm and simple yet expressive silhouette of wooden structures to define the building volume. The color scheme is close to natural, limited to shades of golden wood, echoing the surrounding greenery.
Equi Temple has been awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and sustainable design.
