Introducing the Fashionable Oriental Zen Reception Center in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The "Oriental Zen" reception center, designed by Yung-Hsi Peng, Pei-Chi Hung, and Parn Shyr, draws inspiration from garden landscapes, creating a transparent and open artistic space within a two-story building. The design cleverly resolves irregularities and structural restrictions, transforming defects into advantages.
Ingeniously utilizing structure and landscape construction techniques, the reception center achieves a Zen visual effect with interwoven light and shadow. It introduces oriental elements such as a bamboo forest, lattices, calligraphy works, and lotuses, presenting a modern garden impression rich in Zen style.
With a palette of Zen-style materials, including black-color metal, darkened mirror glass, crystal acetate, and marble, the design complements the natural environment. The space features non-toxic and non-hazardous decorative materials, emphasizing sustainability and environmental consciousness.
Featuring a raised vertical line connecting interior spaces on every floor, the reception center creates a bamboo-forest-like visual effect, intertwining light and shadow. The incorporation of oriental elements and lighting design constructs the impression of a modern garden in the interior.
This project, located in Zhonghe District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements.
