FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wuhan Diary by Yu Chen

Yu Chen's "Wuhan Diary" is a visual diary project that captures the emotions and social environment during the pandemic, using terrain-based visual languages to present a unique perspective on the modern relationship between humans and nature. The project started in January 2020 in Wuhan and finished in April 2020. Yu Chen, along with Titouan Millet, utilized poster, AR, motion graphic, and interaction projection technologies to realize this project.

The project was inspired by the designer's personal experience of being quarantined at home for nearly three months during the pandemic. The designer used programming to present a series of case studies on terrain-based visual languages and collected public opinions during the pandemic period. The color and density of rolling mountains were used to represent the social environment and the designer's emotions during the pandemic, creating a visual diary that reflects the unique perspective of the pandemic experience.

Yu Chen faced the challenge of combining land elements with social data during the epidemic through visual design to create dynamic graphics that allow people to feel and reflect on what they experienced during the epidemic. The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation.
