Aedas Unveils Double-Curved Façade Office Tower

Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd, in collaboration with Aedas, unveils an office tower inspired by the dancing aurora, featuring a unique double-curved façade design. The 201M high tower is characterized by the 'dance of light,' achieved through bottom-to-top connections between the northern and eastern sides, creating a striking juxtaposition of rectilinear forms and tower facades with double curves.

The tower's standout feature is its double-curved façade, positioning it as one of "The Most Twisting Towers in the World." The twisting design posed a significant challenge, which was overcome through the use of cold bend glass technique and BIM for complex geometry façade. The innovative approach enabled a smooth transition of the glass façade, utilizing double-curved cold form glass to achieve a maximum twisting angle of up to 8.8 degrees per floor, surpassing existing super high-rise towers by nearly 1.5 times.

The completion of the office tower marks a record-breaking design in China, with a maximum of 86mm in glass deviation between floors. Aedas' Global Design Principal, Ken Wai, led the team in realizing this remarkable architectural feat, which was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2023.
