Architect Tetsuya Matsumoto Unveils Innovative Hospitality Space Combining Luxury Cafe and Sports Bar
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Architect Tetsuya Matsumoto introduces Wavy Stillness, a groundbreaking hospitality space merging a luxury cafe and sports bar, located on the fourth floor of a commercial building in Himeji, Japan.
The Wavy Stillness is a hospitality establishment that combines a luxury cafe and a sports bar in one single space. The design draws inspiration from luxury hotel lobbies, neighboring movie theatres, and high-end cocktail bars, resulting in a unique and dynamic atmosphere.
The space features a three-dimensional wavy stainless steel wall behind the counter, creating an ever-changing reflection. Additionally, 21 TV screens are strategically placed to cater to sports enthusiasts, making it an ideal venue for public viewing events.
The project commenced in October 2020 and was completed in May 2021, with construction starting in March 2021. The establishment spans a gross built area of 285sqm, offering a spacious and immersive experience for visitors.
The design team, led by Tetsuya Matsumoto, overcame various challenges, including integrating two distinct hospitality spaces without compromising their individual identities and navigating the technical complexities of the existing facility's layout.
Wavy Stillness represents a new kind of hybrid space, seamlessly transitioning from a serene cafe during the day to a vibrant sports bar in the evening, offering a truly unique experience for patrons.
