shr.d: Redefining Vinyl Music in Modern Homes

Bruce Tao introduces shr.d, a vinyl record player reimagined in a modern design style. This innovative music device can be elegantly hung on the wall, serving as both a beautiful accessory and a functional home stereo. Crafted from ABS material, shr.d offers impact resistance, scratch resistance, and dimensional stability, while also being moisture-proof and corrosion-resistant. Its environmental-friendly design ensures safety and electrical insulation, providing a unique and safe music experience.

Measuring at 32.5cm in length, 7.9cm in width, and 28cm in height, shr.d offers a compact and stylish addition to any modern home. Its unique properties and elegant shape make it a standout piece for music enthusiasts and design aficionados alike.

Operating shr.d is simple and versatile. Users can enjoy the beauty of vinyl music by simply installing it on the wall and connecting it to the power supply. Additionally, the device features a USB port, allowing users to play their favorite songs through USB connection, expanding the music experience beyond traditional vinyl records.

Starting the project in September 2020 in Milan, the shr.d design was completed in February 2021 and exhibited in China in the same month. The design is rooted in extensive research on the significance of vinyl records in music history and the unique qualities that make them a timeless medium for music enthusiasts.

Despite the complex internal structure, the shr.d design overcame machining challenges to bring this innovative vinyl record player to life. The product's name, shr.d, is derived from the combination of basic graphics, representing the square, hole, red, and dot, reflecting the product's simple yet exquisite design.

Bruce Tao, a prominent figure in industrial design, has won over 100 design awards domestically and internationally. His commitment to promoting industrial design in China and nurturing design students has led to numerous accolades and patents for scientific and technological inventions.
