RGB Hotel: A Fusion of Modern Design and Local Culture

Designed by Xiaobing Yao, the RGB Hotel is a remarkable homestay project that seamlessly blends modern design with local lifestyle and culture. Inspired by the local lifestyle and national culture, the hotel aims to convey the brand positioning of visualization, youth, and life through modern design methods. The hotel perfectly fits the elements of red, green, and blue, symbolizing sunrise and sunset, ecological jungle, and sky hot spring, respectively.

The design strategy of the RGB Hotel focuses on improving basic programs and functions while making the architecture more open and public, capable of serving more people. The project covers a total of 15000 square meters and features materials such as art paint, wood floor tiles, tung oil bark, steel structure, ecological large stone pieces, and original wind wood.

Retaining the broken wall is not only a dissemination of beauty but also a protection of ancient buildings. The project started in December 2020 and was completed in August 2021 in Kangding, Sichuan. The second floor uses a contemporary architectural system, while the material selection echoes the local traditional way, creating a beautiful integration of ancient and modern elements.

One of the unique features of the RGB Hotel is that each guest room has an independent bubble pool, continuously supplied with flowing hot springs for residents through thermal energy conversion, avoiding energy waste and environmental pollution caused by large consumption of electricity and natural gas.

The designer, Xiaobing Yao, perfectly integrates the local natural landscape, primitive architecture, and modern life to create a place for people who live in the city for a long time. The building and the surrounding natural environment are perfectly integrated, giving off an extraordinary atmosphere as if done by the spirits.

RGB Hotel was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design in 2022, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence.
