Eastern Seawall Project: Connecting Visitors with Native Features

Updesign, a leading design firm based in Guangdong, Shenzhen, has unveiled the Eastern Seawall project, a visually captivating signage system and environmental graphic design. Situated in the picturesque Dapeng Peninsula, the project aims to create a unique and immersive experience for tourists, connecting six distinct areas through a unified signage system.

The design draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Dapeng Peninsula, incorporating elements of the local fishing villages and the expansive coastline to provide visitors with an engaging and informative experience. The project's main concept, "reading on the way," ensures that visitors can enjoy a complete experience by reading information such as signboards, site maps, and ecology introductions for roads and entrances.

Utilizing modular structures, the design seamlessly integrates with different venues, offering a cohesive yet adaptable approach to signage. The installation spans a 32km shoreline, overcoming challenges posed by coastal conditions such as typhoons, high salt, and humidity. The use of anti-corrosion hardwood and steel skeleton ensures durability and ease of maintenance.

The Eastern Seawall project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding innovation and technical excellence. This prestigious accolade highlights the project's ability to create a remarkable spatial experience and its positive impact on the local environment and tourism.
