Huile Yi's Saturn: A Modern Cat Bed Made from Surplus Materials

Huile Yi's Saturn is a modern pet house designed to reduce material waste and promote sustainability. Inspired by surplus materials from modern furniture production, the design team assembled wood into a regular round shape, imitating the assembly of footballs. This innovative approach not only reduces waste but also creates a stunning and functional pet house that integrates seamlessly into modern home spaces.

Saturn, with its unique design, makes full use of surplus materials from modern wood processing, showcasing the maxim of sustainability. The pet house not only provides a comfortable living space for cats but also adds elegance to modern home decor. The design employs a technique that imitates the assembly of footballs, using triangles to create a round shape, effectively reprocessing surplus materials and reducing waste during production.

Measuring 480*409mm, Saturn features a large entrance for cats and additional holes on either side for interaction with the owner. The design team overcame creative and technical challenges to ensure a cozy environment for pets, employing dark painting for a comfortable living space. The product was developed from March to November 2021, starting in Beijing and finishing in Henan Province, before being exhibited in Caochangdi Art District, Beijing.
