Eureka Lounge Chair: A Fusion of Mathematics and Comfort

Huile Yi introduces the Eureka Lounge Chair, a fusion of mathematical precision and ergonomic comfort. Inspired by the Enneper surface in nature, this lounge chair brings a sense of order and flow to modern interior design, featuring a unique fabric with kaleidoscopic colored dots that change in visual appearance with the viewing angle.

The Eureka Chair's shape is based on the mathematical model of the Enneper surface, providing stability and ergonomic comfort. The fabric, made of wools from Kvadrat Sprinkles series, offers excellent stretch and durability, making it an ideal material for this curved deck chair. The chair's dimensions are 980mm*1040mm*1000mm.

The project was designed and developed in Beijing in January 2021 and launched in China in November 2022. The design process prioritized form, function, and ergonomics, settling on the Enneper surface after studying mathematical models in nature. The challenge was to harmonize the overall sense of flow and order through the curved structure while ensuring ergonomics and comfort.
