FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aleksandra Toborowicz's two-volume "Catalogue of Incunabula in the National Library of Poland" is a meticulous presentation of the 15th-century print collection held by the BNP, featuring 1,131 copies of 1,034 printed editions. The project draws inspiration from the style of the first Renaissance prints and typography, utilizing elegant, hand-made cover paper and large initials as a leitmotif. The publication also incorporates two-color typographic printing and subtle blind debossing of the Renaissance grid, adding historical elegance.
The unique properties of the project lie in its meticulous attention to detail, with references to historical typography and materials. The choice of oldstyle and serif Adobe Jenson Pro font, along with the use of burgundy color for specific elements, creates a strong contrast and historical resonance. The cover production paper, Arches White 400 g/m2, adds a rough and harmonious texture, reminiscent of hand-made paper, further enhancing the historical appeal of the publication.
The publication, printed in 250 copies, was realized using advanced printing techniques, including dry embossing, two-color typographic printing, and sewn-glued binding. The otabind technique allows for easy opening of the book, enhancing the reader's experience. The meticulous attention to detail and historical accuracy make this publication a standout in the world of book design and printing.
