ListSmart: Intelligent Shopping List Application and Service Design

Jung Joo Sohn, an assistant professor of industrial and interaction design at Purdue University, introduces ListSmart, an intelligent shopping list application and service design. ListSmart aims to transform the shopping experience by offering smart item suggestions, budgeting, and a collaborative platform, encouraging better spending habits.

Utilizing Adobe XD, Adobe Illustrator, and other prototype developing tools, ListSmart was designed for iOS and web screen sizes, with the mobile version tailored for iOS and the kiosk interface designed to fit most web formats (1920 x 1080px).

ListSmart is simple and easy to use, featuring a home screen with a budget summary displayed through weather conditions and lists below. The List Marketplace allows users to upload and download lists, while the budget screen and list creation screen are shown through sheets on the screen, providing a dynamic user experience.

The project, initiated in October 2020 at Purdue University, was completed in March 2021. ListSmart's development was informed by extensive research, including surveys, user tests, and prior research on the target demographic of millennials living in metropolitan areas.

Jung Joo Sohn's multidisciplinary background, including over eight years as a UX designer at Samsung Electronics, has contributed to ListSmart's innovative approach to enhancing the shopping experience.
