Bio One: A Unique Office Chair Designed for Small Creative Environments

Vladimir Zagorac, a product designer based in Belgrade, Serbia, introduces Bio One, an office chair created as part of conceptual research within a doctoral studies project. Inspired by organic forms and universal principles of nature, Bio One aims to bring a fresh take to working in small creative environments.

Bio One stands out with its essential organic outlines, transforming into a characteristic uplifting form resembling the flower of the Calla aethiopica on the edge of the backrest. The chair is designed to encourage creativity and inspiration while maintaining functionality and ergonomics.

Constructed using molded thermoplastics and tapered, bent steel tubing, Bio One features a swivel base and castors, making it suitable for modern interiors of studios and home offices. With dimensions of up to 680mm in width and depth and a height of 849mm, this chair fulfills essential functions for small productive spaces.

The project, which lasted one semester at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, involved extensive research, including the analysis of flora and fauna samples. The aim was to create a calming and dynamic form suitable for first-time remote work while using fresh aesthetics.

Bio One has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Office Furniture Design category in 2022. This award reflects the chair's marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting design, venerated for its extraordinary excellence and significant impact on the world.
