Playful Child Care Clinic Reconstruction Project

Yoshiaki Tanaka's TSC Architects has unveiled the redesign of the Playful Child Care Clinic, a heartwarming reconstruction project for a pediatric clinic in Nagoya, Japan. The clinic, designed to provide a sense of security for families, features a warm, wood-filled space surrounded by picture books, aimed at soothing and comforting young patients. The unique design includes a wall-to-wall bookshelf of picture books to ease children's anxieties and prevent infection by distributing waiting areas in three locations.

The clinic's eye-catching roof, designed to increase visibility and patient comfort, allows light to overflow through the gaps, creating a sense of ease in the surrounding streetscape. The project, which took place from September 2018 to May 2019, also serves as a vaccination site for COVID-19, supporting the health of local residents.

Yoshiaki Tanaka's TSC Architects has been honored with the Iron A' Design Award in 2022 for this innovative and practical creation, recognized for its industry best practices and competent technical characteristics that contribute to a better world.
