Prism Design introduces the Moonlit Garden Wuxi Sales Center, a modern architectural marvel inspired by Japanese culture, located in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China, and completed in 2014.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prism Design presents the Moonlit Garden Wuxi Sales Center, a captivating architectural creation that seamlessly blends Japanese aesthetic sensibilities with the cultural materials of Wuxi, China. The design draws inspiration from the concept of Moonlit and Garden, offering a unique and interactive exhibit space for users. The sales center, open since May 2014, is a testament to the fusion of modern Chinese style with the timeless allure of Japanese design.
The design team, led by Creative Director Tomohiro Katsuki and Designer Masanori Kobayashi, meticulously incorporated regional materials such as cloth, iron, bamboo, and Taihu Lake stone, showcasing the characteristics of each element to evoke a sense of Japanese aesthetics within the Chinese landscape. The architectural bond created by connecting these elements has resulted in a memorable and immersive experience for visitors.
Utilizing innovative technologies, the design features an entrance passage that utilizes infinite reflection using mirrors, symbolizing the infinite expanse of a bamboo forest. The ground floor incorporates regional materials to represent Wuxi's historical background, while the underground section features an artificial greening ceiling, demonstrating a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Overcoming challenges such as understanding the preferences of Wuxi's residents, sales operations, environmental considerations, and compliance with Chinese laws and regulations, the design team successfully implemented specialty materials, efficient operation flow lines, and creative natural representations. Collaboration with local design institutes further enriched the project, resulting in a harmonious blend of cultural influences.
Prism Design's Moonlit Garden Wuxi Sales Center stands as a testament to the studio's commitment to innovative design, assiduous research, and a strong design identity. The project was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2016, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting contributions to interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
