Unique Reading Area Design at Beitou Parent-Child Library

CHENG HUI HSIN has unveiled a unique reading area design at the Beitou Parent-Child Library in Taipei, Taiwan. The design draws inspiration from Chinese scroll bamboo elements, creating a visual experience that conveys a sense of steady ascent, inviting visitors to settle down and indulge in a good reading time. The space features virtual and real hollows between the grilles, establishing an interlaced relationship between people and the environment, resulting in a sense of overlap between light, shadow, and space.

The design stands out with its use of natural wood veneer and white surfaces to bring the beauty of nature indoors, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. The library's marble floors create an ambiance reminiscent of flowing clouds and water, fostering a serene atmosphere for reading and relaxation.

Spanning an area of 860 square meters, the reading area offers various seating options, including floor changes and different types of furniture, catering to both adults and children. The design team has carefully curated the space to provide a comfortable and engaging environment for readers of all ages.
