Water Ripples: A Transparent Chair Inspired by Nature

Kuo-Hsiang Kuo introduces "Water Ripples," a unique chair inspired by the natural flow of ripples. Crafted from fully transparent materials, this chair is a fusion of art and functionality, offering users an interactive and novel seating experience.

Featuring a safe structure and interactive functions, the chair allows users to feel like they are sitting on water ripples, offering a sense of freedom and fun. Whether indoors or outdoors, the chair's ripples interact with natural light, creating captivating visual effects.

The chair, made from Polymethyl Methacrylate, measures 1600mm x 600mm x 600mm and weighs 56 kilograms, ensuring structural safety and solidity. Its transparent nature posed challenges during production, requiring meticulous attention to detail to maintain its integrity.

One of the most significant challenges during production was the material's tendency to generate high temperatures and small bubbles. However, these characteristics added to the chair's natural aesthetic, echoing the state of ripples in nature.

The project commenced in December 2022 and was completed in Taichung, Taiwan, in February 2023. Kuo-Hsiang Kuo's dedication to research and development is evident in the chair's ability to seamlessly integrate into various environments, offering a unique and captivating seating experience.

Water Ripples has been recognized with the Silver A' Design Award, showcasing its exceptional innovation, technical prowess, and artistic excellence. Kuo-Hsiang Kuo's multidisciplinary expertise and dedication to creating timeless art continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
