Shaoxing Hotel Landscape Design

U A D introduces the Shaoxing Hotel landscape design, located at the foot of Fushan Mountain in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, China. The project, which commenced in April 2018 and concluded in October 2018, spans an area of 44624 square meters and is categorized as a hotel.

The landscape design draws inspiration from the local culture and environment, aiming to connect with the historical significance of the ancient city. By incorporating traditional Chinese landscaping techniques such as "borrowing", "metaphorizing", and "analogy", the design creates a distinctive setting for the hotel, featuring lush trees, elegant pines, and intoxicating seasonal sceneries.

Challenges such as the limited time frame and the need to connect the hotel with the local culture were overcome by the design team, resulting in a project highly recognized by the client, citizens, experts, and the authority.

The design integrates mountain-facing landscapes and unifies old and new building volumes, achieving a transition from a generous welcoming atmosphere to an elegant and tranquil setting. Landscapes inside the hotel unfold around Qingbai Courtyard, Ningcui Courtyard, and Tingyu Courtyard, expressing natural themes of mountain, water, and rain, respectively.

Through modern techniques, the design realizes traditional charm, creating a picturesque, poetic landscape scene that echoes local mountains and water. The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2023, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation.

Inspired by the picturesque scenery of Shaoxing, the project takes "green mountain and clear water" as its design concept, responding to the local historical context and environment through abstract expressions. By incorporating local features and scenery of nearby Fushan Mountain, the project presents a picturesque, poetic landscape scene that echoes local mountains and water.
