Li Beer: Packaging Design Inspired by Ancient Chinese Culture

CHINA RESOURCES SNOW BREWERIES proudly presents Li Beer, a packaging design inspired by ancient Chinese brewing techniques. The design draws inspiration from the ancient liquor-making techniques discovered in the Yangshao cultural site, featuring a bottle shape reminiscent of the Shuang-Er-Ni-Yu pattern pottery bottle unearthed at the site. The carvings on the bottle resemble traditional water ripples and fish stripes, paying homage to the rich history of Chinese beer brewing.

The package design of Li aims to celebrate the origin of Chinese beer brewing history found in the Yangshao cultural site. Li adopts a traditional Chinese brewing recipe to convey traditional Chinese beer culture. The package, in the form of the Shuang-Er-Ni-Yu pattern pottery bottle, instills the historical brewing recipe and flavor to users. Elegant pictures and archaistic fonts enhance the essence and historical sense of Li.

The bottle, made of glass, measures 350mm x 120mm x 330mm and holds 2x999ml of beer. The gift package applies embossing techniques to its surface, allowing users to feel the texture when they touch the package. Users can enjoy the pleasing and mellow beer made by the traditional recipe as soon as they open the gift package and tear off the top seal.

The project commenced in 2020 and was completed in June 2021. The recipe for Li Beer is derived from archaeological findings about the Mijiaya historic site in Shaanxi province, which belongs to the Yangshao culture. The pottery, dating back around 5,400 years, revealed the earliest record of beer brewing in ancient times.

Li Beer was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and trendsetting design that reflects the designer's prodigy and wisdom. This prestigious accolade celebrates Li Beer as a marvelous creation that significantly impacts the world with its desirable characteristics.
