forceMAJEURE, in collaboration with Master Blender Lorena Vasquez, has unveiled the exquisite packaging design for Zacapa Reserva Limitada 2019. Inspired by Vasquez's art of blending, the design captures dimensional layers of expressive movement and colors, enhanced by luminous golden details, reflecting her unique art form. This limited edition release is a culmination of expertise, experimentation, and artistry, available only once every few years.
The Zacapa Reserva Limitada 2019 is a unique composition of flavors, a result of aged rum reserves finished in exclusive wine barrels. The packaging features a brown label with rich gold foil lettering that complements the amber and golden hues of the liquid. The signature petate band, handwoven by local Guatemalan craftswomen, proudly wraps around the bottle, adding a touch of authenticity and heritage to the design.
forceMAJEURE's design for the canister blends washes of colors and textures inspired by the lush Guatemalan landscape, creating a visually stunning representation of the product's origins. The packaging also features Zacapa's iconic petate or woven straw band, created by local Guatemalan craftswomen, further emphasizing the brand's commitment to honoring its heritage and traditions.
The biggest challenge for forceMAJEURE was the realization and translation of the design intent into a beautifully printed canister that brought to life all the colors, finishes, textural embossing effects, and materials envisioned. Despite surprise restrictions and technical difficulties, the team's diligence and creativity with printing techniques resulted in a pack that truly represents the beauty of the liquid story.
Laurent Hainaut, based in Brooklyn, United States, led the forceMAJEURE team, which included Creative Director Michelle Mak, Senior Designer Kei Hayashi, and Production Director Linda Tseng. The design was recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Limited Edition and Custom Design category in 2020, reflecting its outstanding creativity and impact on the industry.
