Silence: Bridging the Communication Gap for the Deaf Community

Guangpeng Yue introduces "Silence," a groundbreaking sign language translator device designed to facilitate seamless communication for the deaf community. The device, made of anodic aluminum oxide, features a holographic projection module, voice interaction, and somatosensory recognition, enabling efficient translation of sign language into voice and vice versa. With a flat rectangular design, Silence is suitable for various public settings, aiming to enhance accessibility and inclusivity.

Silence is a result of extensive research and development, addressing the challenges faced by individuals with hearing and language disabilities. The device captures sign language actions, translates them into voice messages, and projects holographic representations, revolutionizing communication for the deaf. The project, initiated in July 2021 at Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang, Liaoning, China, was completed in October 2021.

Recognized for its innovation, Silence received the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2022. This accolade acknowledges the device's exceptional contribution to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, reflecting Guangpeng Yue's commitment to creating impactful solutions through design.
