Snail Bay: City Exhibition Hall

Kris Lin's Snail Bay project is a city exhibition hall that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor spaces. The project, located in Kunming, China, adjacent to Central Lake Park, utilized the natural landscape to create a four-dimensional integrated design from architecture, landscape, interior, to soft decoration. The city exhibition hall showcases the future development of the Snail Bay area, utilizing a large area glass curtain wall to open the indoor space to the natural landscape.

The project is a remarkable example of urban renewal, as it involved the reconstruction and reuse of old buildings in the Snail Bay area. The design strategy focused on preserving the structure and spatial pattern of the original buildings while creating a completely open indoor space with a vision of the natural surroundings. The exhibition hall covers an area of 6800sqm and was completed in March 2019.

Kris Lin, along with Jiayu Yang, led the design team in overcoming the challenges of integrating the indoor and outdoor spaces, introducing lake water into the building, and connecting the indoor and outdoor areas with a visually stunning corridor. The project was exhibited in Kunming, China, in March 2019, and was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and trendsetting design.
