Textile Art Center Revitalizes Deqing's Cultural Heritage
Renowned designer Kris Lin has revitalized a historic textile factory in Deqing, China, by transforming it into a modern urban art center. Inspired by the region's rich textile history, the project seamlessly integrates historical elements with modern design techniques, creating a space that transcends time and space.
The 2000ã¡ space features LED lights representing yarn, preserving the architectural structure of the old factory building, and integrating broken lines to form an organic unity. The art center includes a historical exhibition hall and a community art center, providing a platform for youth art activities, library functions, and historical textile industry displays.
The project, which started in February 2019 and was completed in December 2019, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2020, highlighting its outstanding expertise, innovation, and contribution to cultural heritage.
