Interwoven Layers: Redefining Residential Design

Hung Yu Chen presents Interwoven Layers, a residential design that redefines spatial perception and architectural aesthetics. Completed in August 2019 in Taipei, this project showcases a unique blend of virtual and real elements, creating a warm and inviting living space.

Interwoven Layers is characterized by its innovative use of spatial layers, allowing air and light to permeate the interior while materials and colors enrich the living experience. The design underlay flourishes under a metal-plate ceiling, creating a captivating interplay of light and shadow.

The project was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.

As the structural beam and column system affected the spatial perception and layout planning, the design team overcame challenges by integrating a metal plate into the ceiling, creating a new visual focus and resolving the issue of traversing beams.

Interwoven Layers stands as a testament to Hung Yu Chen's design philosophy, blending memory and collections to create a space that reflects the essence of daily rituals and the imagination for the future.
