FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HKTDC's Chapter Infinity

Centrestage 2021, the premium event platform for discovering Asia’s latest upcoming fashion brands, unveiled a mesmerizing 600m2 multifunctional introductory space designed by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The concept, named "Chapter Infinity," aimed to inspire the fashion industry to explore new infinite possibilities both digitally and physically, overcoming recent challenges. Drawing inspiration from the works of artist M.C. Escher, the space offered a futuristic, dreamlike experience to welcome visitors to the event.

Returning as a physical format, the 6th edition of Centrestage required an extraordinary space to uplift the overall ambiance of the show. The Chapter Infinity space served as an opening reception area, fashion presentation space, and an introductory experience area. The design featured a futuristic multimedia, audio-visual experience, creating a captivating environment for visitors.

The design and realization of the space involved meticulous planning and execution. All items were prefabricated and tested off-site before being reassembled on-site within a tight 3-day setup window. The space featured innovative elements such as a recessed infinity mirror cube backdrop, hanging LED screens, and a floating staircase, all contributing to the futuristic ambiance. To enhance sustainability, biodegradable carpets were used in the production.

Featuring a 5m wide x 3.5m high LED screen outside the hall entry, the space also included cladded walls with 3mm corrugated acrylic sheets and LED tubes. Inside the hall, a 15m x 36m x 5m introductory space housed 8 suspended LED screens of varying sizes, creating a captivating visual experience. The space also incorporated overlapping planes of materials such as mesh, mirror, and clear acrylic, suspended on metal frames, along with a 7m high AV rig supporting a floating MDF staircase. A 3m x 3m concave infinity mirror and LED neon-lit arches completed the immersive experience.

The Chapter Infinity concept was brought to life through a series of bespoke videos and motion graphics, creating a dynamic and engaging environment. The space offered a multi-functional experience, from audio-visual spatial experiences to hosting mini fashion parades, opening receptions, and branding lectures.

The project, from initial briefing to onsite completion, spanned 3 months and was launched on the 10th of September 2021, running for 4 days at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The design team, led by the HKTDC Creative Department, overcame creative and technical challenges to realize the futuristic vision of Chapter Infinity, earning the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2023 for its outstanding expertise and innovation.
