DesignInspire exhibition at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, showcased the innovative Inside Out concept, created by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to promote an eco-friendly approach to spatial design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Inside Out concept for DesignInspire exhibition was born out of the need to be eco-friendly while uplifting the event's spatial image. The design team at HKTDC drew inspiration from the challenges of sustainability and simplicity, leading to the creation of a concept that involved turning a temporary wall structure inside out to expose all its workings.
DesignInspire served as a platform for global creative elites, design brands, and associations to showcase their creativity. The Inside Out concept resulted in a raw and neutral design setting that effectively uplifted the ambience of the event, aligning with the organizer's vision for an eco-friendly approach to spatial design.
The spatial design utilized plywood paneling, off-the-shelf fixings, hired scaffolding, and reusable aluminum structure, creating a visually striking yet sustainable environment. The event featured a reception counter, entrance treatment, open workshops, communal product display areas, and an open forum, all constructed with a focus on minimizing onsite waste and maximizing sustainability.
The Inside Out concept was not only visually impactful but also functioned to clearly define different areas of the exhibition, providing a self-exploratory layout for visitors. The project, from initial briefing to onsite completion, spanned three months, culminating in a three-day exhibition in December 2019.
The Inside Out concept at DesignInspire exhibition exemplifies HKTDC's commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative design solutions, setting a new standard for eco-friendly spatial design in the industry.
