The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) unveiled a groundbreaking multifunctional introductory space design for Centrestage 2022, a premium event showcasing Asiaâs latest upcoming fashion brands. Under the central theme of Inclusion and Diversity, the event aimed to enable visitors to express their bold imagination through beauty and aesthetics.
The annual event, covering 6665 m2 of exhibition space, featured a multifunctional space design to uplift the overall ambiance of the show. The space served as an area for opening receptions, fashion presentations, and an introductory experience area in default mode.
Due to the tight 3-day setup, all items were prefabricated and tested off-site before being reassembled onsite. The design featured a Naked eyes LED wall, hanging circular LED screens, and interactive game columns, all aimed at creating a sustainable and immersive experience for visitors.
Outside the hall entry, a 6mW. x 3.5mH. Naked eyes curved LED screen created a 3-dimensional image, while the interior space featured 2 layers of circular LED screens, a spherical screen, and interactive game columns. The design also incorporated biodegradable carpets to enhance sustainability.
The design brought the Inclusion and Diversity concept to life through motion graphics, VR experiences, and audio-visual spatial experiences. It also featured a multi-functional area, Miniverse, showcasing mini fashion parades and event presentations.
The project took 3 months from initial briefing to onsite completion and was located at the Hong Kong Conference and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The event aimed to promote discussion on inclusive design practices and celebrate efforts to address the needs of diverse communities, striving to break stereotypes and embrace differences in the fashion industry and beyond.
