ITALY -- /DESIGN/newswire -- Sep 01, 2022

Lavazza introduces Tiny Eco, the first espresso machine made from recycled plastic, designed by Florian Seidl in Turin, Italy, as part of the A Modo Mio system

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lavazza Tiny Eco: Sustainable Espresso Machine

Lavazza, the renowned Italian coffee brand, unveils Tiny Eco, the first espresso machine made from recycled plastic, designed by Florian Seidl. Tiny Eco is a compact and sustainable addition to the A Modo Mio system, offering compostable coffee capsules. The machine's design reflects Lavazza's commitment to sustainability, with a focus on life cycle assessment, energy efficiency, and noise levels. The product development process took about two years, culminating in a visually striking and environmentally conscious espresso machine.

Constructed with up to 61% recycled plastic, Tiny Eco features a well-structured, compact shape with intersecting volumes to reduce visual mass and evoke stability. The machine's front boasts an elegant, sinuous design with vibrant colors, while the rear remains black, housing the easily accessible water tank and showcasing glossy Lavazza logos on the sides. The frontal pattern echoes the typical horizontal theme present on Lavazza products.

Florian Seidl, the designer behind Tiny Eco, emphasized precise control over all surfaces and details to achieve a coherent design. The machine celebrates its Mediterranean identity with meticulous attention to detail, color, and finishes, embodying the essence of Italian design.

Weighing 2.7kg and measuring 139mm x 260mm x 270mm, Tiny Eco operates at 1450W with a voltage of 220-240 and a frequency of 50-60 Hz. It boasts an energy efficiency rating of A PLUS and features removable, dishwasher-safe parts. The machine comes packaged in recycled cardboard along with a Quick Start Guide and a detailed instruction booklet.

Lavazza Tiny Eco is designed for simplicity and ease of use. The transparent water tank provides immediate visual feedback, while the removable cup rest accommodates various cup sizes, reducing splashes and optimizing coffee temperature and crema. The backlit Stop and Go button, prominently placed on top, allows users to select their desired coffee quantity with just one touch.

Florian Seidl, Lavazza's design manager at the Innovation Center in Turin, led the development of Tiny Eco, leveraging extensive experience in design and a strong commitment to sustainability. The launch of Tiny Eco marks a significant milestone for Lavazza, reinforcing the brand's dedication to environmental responsibility and innovative design.
